In geosciences, specifically, the climate and weather modeling communities, ndarray data is often stored in files according to the Climate and Forecast metadata convention (CF). This page showcases examples of how various types of CF-encoded geoscience data are described using the Ndarray Data Language. The content in these examples should not be construed as complete or representing best practices.

HDF-EOS5 is the standard for storing NASA Earth Observing System data. The example below is for the file GSSTF_NCEP.3.2008.12.31.he5 (download) from the Goddard Satellite-based Surface Turbulent Fluxes Version 3 dataset.

Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the current generation of operational polar-orbiting U.S. satellites for weather and environmental monitoring. The data is disseminated in an HDF5-based file format. The example here is for an SVM01 product file from the VIIRS instrument aboard the SNPP satellite.
